Tripel Karmeliet – A hidden gem in the Bangkok  craft beer scene

Not many people know or appreciate, outside Belgium, just how good the Triple Karmeliet beer really is.

Tripel Karmeliet is a triple with a gold, almost bronze color, it has a noticeable creamy head when pouring into its own unique snifter glass.  There is an abundance of herbs and fruity aromas. This beer has not only the lightness and freshness of wheat, but also the creaminess of oats, and it also has a spicy, lemony dryness.

At 8.4% alcohol one might think the beer would be very strong to taste but surprisingly this is not the case and the beer slips down without any strong aftertaste.

What people don’t know about the beer is that is brewed according to an authentic beer recipe from 1679 derived from the old Carmelite Convent in Dendermonde.

They probably also don’t know that this beer has won several gold medal awards including:

The Worlds Best Ale, 2008

The Worlds Best Pale Ale 2008

The Worlds Best Abbey Ale 2008
